Bipartisan Letter Calls on National Park Service to Respect Veterans’ Visits to National War Memorials

In response to reports of disrespectful treatment towards veterans attending war memorials on the National Mall, House Veterans Affairs Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee Ranking Member Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (CT-05) and Chairman Mike Bost (IL-12) authored a letter to the National Parks Service (NPS) requesting clarity on several NPS policies. Esty, who serves as Ranking Member of the Veterans Affairs Committee’s Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee, asked NPS to identify steps to “prevent such incidents from taking place in the future.”
